Wednesday, July 18, 2007

I am now at Pacific coffee, Festival Walk, Kln Tong.

I am alone tonight, going out, having my dinner, wondering around.
Enjoying a moment of rest

I had breakfast, tea(without lunch of course) and dinner today, I should feel happy.

----
Last night we did have a "phone conference" for Guai's Bday
Miss you guys really
Looking forward to our gathering on Fri(my post call day)~

The 2nd week

Started to be a little bit better with the routine work
still a lot of writing errors

still feel bad on call days
coz physically and mentally cannot stand for it
super low efficiency in the next day after call

Today I tried to reflect,
it's time to change the attitude
not to "finish" all the work
but appreciate each little task I did
and let time bring me to another new day

The 1st time I did the explaination to the family for a patient going to die soon
it's just like the TV scene

The most rewarding thing is hearing "thank you" from the patients

Finally have 1.5 holiday(tonite+ tomo)
call on Sun

Finished 1 week of work.
Havne't got time to digest what I did and what I felt these days.
Being a Dr is really different from being a medical student.
For the former, you have no excuse for knowing nothing
you cannot expect there is always sb to deal with your difficulty
you cannot simply say you don't know

Working for 1 week, I have already certified for nearly 10 patients
and 1 witnessed sudden arrest
Maybe, I should admit I am only a human
But it's time to learn, to be a doctor.

Life is fragile
We thought being a dr can help and save life
it's not always the case coz life has its end point.

1st July 2007

Started my first day of work at PWH MED 9A/B
Luckily I got Emily who should be fee today coming back to help me dealing with 1 ward
and 1 MO kindly helped me to clear the "homework"
Also the nurses are so nice there and tolerate me a lot
Otherwise I dun think I can go at 2pm

4-5 X-Match
3-4 Consent form
2-3 ABG
2 ECG
Pigtail removal
labels...rewrite med/IVF...drips...

Today got a patient with haematamesis, BP dropped and I was unable to set drip for transfusion
Finally made a few calls by nurse to find MO to set....Luckily he's safe.

I predict I will have much more 'exciting' experience in these 3 months.
